Product Details

Scandalous documented 1964 swimsuit that is also Met Museum held! Done in a super thick soft nylon jersey in leopard. Brown mesh, black lace bra cups with boning and low back. Boy cut legs. Lined at the crotch.
Margit Fellegi designed this suit for Cole of California in 1964. It created a scandal and was aptly named the "Scandal Suit". It released to the press in 1964, with runway presentation of models holding mock front page headlines screaming "scandal" in bold print. They dropped the papers on cue, revealing what was, at the time, one of the most overtly sexy and daring swimsuits ever marketed. According to Fellegi, even nice girls would become a bit scandalous once they donned the sliced-up suit.
This suit is also held at the Met Museum in black.
